HOW TO COMPRESS OUR PSP FILES........

Has anyone ever told you how easy it is to
compress your images in Paint Shop Pro ?

In case they have not,
I will attempt to explain it to you as best I can.
Here is all you do.......

After you are done with your image and ready to save it.......
click on file/export jpeg (psp6)
or file/export/jpeg optimizer (psp7, psp8) .
Now a box will come up with a number setting in the
middle and an arrow up or down beside it......

change that number to 40.....
you can make it less if you like,
but that is as high as i would recommend you go.
Otherwise you may be changing the overall colors and look of your image too much.  And we don't want that!

You will see at the top of the screen that there are 2 boxes there,
one is your origional image, one is the compressed one......
you can see how much if any noticeable changes and adjust
the number below if  needed.

You will also notice right below the pics,
what the origional file size was
and what the new size is. this is measured in bytes.
Divide the new number by 1000 to get how many kbs you will have.....
in the example below, you will notice that
uncompressed  the size was 830,440 bytes
or 830kb and that the compressed version is now only
......44,159 bytes or 44kb

That is a big difference and with virtually little or no major change to the image.

** once you have done that click okay and save your
file as you normally would.

If you want to check to see how large a file will be once you are ready
to send it......simply save the image to the drafts folder.

Highlight it in the subject line,  right click and go down to properties......
you will see the total kbs of the image in about the center of the box.
I circled it in red for you.....

I hope this helps you........Hugs,
Karen
