MAKING My
Favorite FRAME using
FILTER FACTORY A -
KALIDESCOPE II FILTER
Start with an image,
between 250px and 300px in width. We will be adding borders to it,
and anything larger than that would probably be too large for you to use
in your stationery.......
Prepare your image as you
would normally do, embossing, etc.
and then using select all,
apply an inner bevel to your image.
These are the settings that
I used for mine.....
After applying the inner
bevel, add a 5px border in
whatever color you would like to use......
To that border, you want to
use your selection wand to
select it
and apply texture to it. This texture
will repeat throughout
the border and will make it
more interesting.
These are the settings i
used ......
Now you have this,
Add a 20px border to all
sides ........
You are ready for your
first Kalidescope II effect.
Select the border
with your selection wand and click on
Images/ Filter Factory
Gallery A/Kalidescope II. I normally
start by putting up the top
and sides. Remember that you will
only see the outer edges of
this shape on your image.
Here are the
settings that i used for this first
part.
Now you can see how
you only get part of the shape in your actual border.
At this point, I would add
a 10px border onto the image.....
Now, using your selections
wand again, you will want to choose
another shape.
This time I have chosen a shape that will add to the
top and sides of the
border. Here are the settings that i used for it.....
Now I have the top, bottom
and part of the sides done, but i need a midpoint and i
would like more trim on the top and for the sides....
There is no need to add
another border here unless you want to.
I did not add any
more border at this point, I selected the border again and applied the
filter factory A/kalidescope filter again using this setting, and added
more trim to the top and sides.......
This is what I have so
far.....still need a midpoint for the center on each of the sides.
To accomplish that, I once again selected the border.....
and selected the
kalidescope II filter with these settings for the
center point on both of the
sides.....
And this is what i
got.....now all i need is to finish it off with an outer border, or stop
here and export it as a gif for only the border shape.
What I like to do is add
another color for a border........5-10px in size.
Select the new border and
apply first a kalidescope from your main PSP.
Images/Kalidescope. I used the following settings for mine.....
This is what i got,
then
i applied the inner
bevel setting below to it.....
This is my finished
frame....All I need to do now is put my name on it, merge the layers
once i have named it.....
And export it as a
transparent gif using the first border color
and 0 for the
tolerance.....
I hope that you were able
to follow my instructions. Once you have done this a few times, it
will not seem as difficult. Remember that you can pick and choose
whatever shape you want and that the outer edges are what will appear on
your border, not the whole shape. Experiment......if you don't
like what you get with a setting, click on edit/undo and try it again
till you get what you want. Can't wait to see what you come up
with. I am enclosing the addy for downloading the Filter Factory A
Filter so that you can try it right away......Enjoy !
If you have any problems or
questions, email me at
and I will be glad to help
if i can.

Karen
