This tutorial is on my . . .
20/20 PLAID BACKGROUND
The background tile shown here is the finished product.
First thing that I do is to open my image in 20/20. I click on
the Color select tab and choose 2 colors that match up with my
image. You would use your right click to change the
foreground (top) color and the left click for the background
(bottom) color change. The foreground color will be the border-fade
color.
After you have that part done, you need to click on the selections
tab and choose the rectangle tool. For the first border around the
image, first click on the image tab, and then i usually click the border
fade tab. It is the icon next to the seemless tile one with the
sunrising on it. Making a natural fade into the image.
Next use your pointer and left click to outline a small border
around the image, when you let go, it will fill in with color.... i use no
precise measurement, when i do the border fade, if i don't like it, i just
click undo in the top left and redo it how i want it to look.
Click on the border fade again....
and then repeat this step.
One last border fade, and then trace around the image with a very
thin strip of the colored border.
When this border is tiled, it will be the center,
so make it smaller than the rest.
Then just tile it for the plaid effect....
If you want to see how it will look full screen, click on
muted background and preview. At this point i copy the emage
from 20/30 and paste it into PSP where i apply the fm tile
tools/saturation emboss on a low setting and then again fmtile tools/blend
emboss on a low setting to make the details stand out....
Hope you like making this backgrounds.
Try different types of borders around the image
for a little different look.
Hugs,
Karen
